National Premise ID
Premise ID is a national program, however each
state is responsible for implementing premise identifiication
for locations within it borders. Premises are locations where
livestock are handled, managed, housed or processed.
Identifying a premise involves obtaining a seven
character alpha-numberic registration number for the farm, or
location where livestock are handled or managed. Signing up
can be accomplished through your states department of ag web
site or by contacting them via mail.
Information needed to register includes contact
person's name, address, phone number, and physical address and
type of species on the site. Information like size of operation,
numbers of animals, and breed types are not requested or needed.
